In 2013 HSE approvals ended for first aid training provision, instead it was recommended that companies carried out due diligence checks to ensure their chosen provider was following correct protocol. Training providers could register with an awarding body (such as Qualsafe) which would carry out the due diligence checks for them. Alternatively companies looking for a first aid provider could use those registered with voluntary aided society bodies and carry out some checks, or if they chose a training provider registered with a first aid trade body, or not registered at all they would need to take full responsibility for undertaking all checks.
